My story

It started with drawing and colour.

And it grew with every idea I tried to make real. Here are the stops along the way, briefly.

  1. 01

    Before the first job

Since I was a child I loved drawing, arranging colours and making things up. In middle school I taught myself Photoshop, experimenting to turn what I imagined into images I could see.

  2. 02

    A space called Lady Design

Around 2013, still in high school, I started the Lady Design page. I posted covers, designs and visual experiments, and got better with every attempt.

Everything after grew from that page: the followers, Share & Learn, and today’s Lady Design studio.

  3. 03

A small ad, and a first chance

I posted an ad on a job site, which led to an interview and my first design job at 18. I learned on the job inside an advertising company that worked for many clients, among them ASUS and the Ministry of Justice.

    University and work, together

University design programmes weren’t an easy option for me, so I chose English Language and Literature to strengthen my English, and kept learning and practising design alongside my studies.

At Fursan Travel my work ranged from corporate materials and company profiles to video editing and social media design. Combining both wasn’t easy, but design stayed a source of joy.

A question that changed my direction

    How can design help people?

As my skills grew I wanted to challenge myself more. I found myself drawn to visual interaction, and in 2019 I started exploring user experience, continuing to teach myself and backing it with specialised courses.

    Bigger responsibilities

My path led to the Vision Realization Office at the Ministry of Housing, then the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services. There my role grew from graphic design to UX and UI design, and then to leading a UX team.

At the Ministry of Transport I also ran a UX workshop for the team.

Many thanks, Rana, for all the excellent and distinctive work you contributed during your time at the ministry. Your creative mark in design was clear and will stay on all your work. Wishing you continued success.

    Room for art and experiments

At the 2021 AI Artathon I took part in a team that won the first stage. It was a stop that brought together my interest in art and technology.

    Still building

After years in design and leading UX, I joined SITE in February 2025. I’m still looking for ways to make ideas clearer, experiences easier, and design more useful.

How I think

Three decisions from real projects.

  1. 01

    I reframed the problem

In Nukhba the question was “how do we list more businesses?”. Research showed names weren’t scarce, confidence was, so it became “how do people evaluate them with confidence?”.

NukhbaResult: a card in a fixed order, with verification signals inside discovery itself.
  2. 02

    I removed instead of polishing

In Let’s Travel, 4 of 5 participants didn’t understand the hotel confirmation page. It wasn’t part of the decision at that moment, so I took it out of the first flow.

Let’s TravelResult: a shorter planning flow and less load on first use.
  3. 03

I designed a system, not screens

HorizonX sells products, scheduled services, subscriptions and one-time solutions. Instead of one experience per type, I built one system and one cart that keeps each type’s differences.

HorizonXResult: 100+ consistent screens on one design system.
